When you think about cleaning your
grout, you immediately think about how good the grout
cleaner needs to be. Many people overlook the value of a
good quality grout cleaning brush. Although the grout
cleaner itself is the main component, the brush is what
decides how good that grout cleaner will work. What good is
grout cleaner if the grout brush can't loosen up the dirt
and soil?
A good quality grout brush should have some sort of a
"V" shape or similar design that allows the brush to get
deep into the grout lines. The bristles should also be
stiff and durable. If your teeth were fill of plaque, would
a toothbrush will soft bristles work for you? This theory
also holds true with grout cleaning and grout brushes. You
should also make sure the grout brush is used with a pole,
this will allow you to stand-up while cleaning your grout
and keep you off your hands and knees. This will make life
a lot easier when cleaning grout. This will also take a lot
of stress of your back.
So for all of the "do-it-yourself" people out there,
don't just focus all your attention on the grout cleaner
you purchase. Put an equal emphasis on the grout cleaning
brush you use. Using a poor quality grout brush will double
your work time and possibly waste money on buying another.
So do it right the first time. Make sure when cleaning your
grout you purchase commercial grade, professional strength
grout cleaner and grout brushes. Getting all the right
supplies up front is key to getting your grout clean the
first time around.
