Household Hints 101
There’s nothing more
gratifying to a person who has spent hours on cleaning their
house than to get praise for the great job they’ve done in
keeping it clean-looking and beautiful. For these people,
keeping their house in great shape is one of their burning
desires. Finding handy household hints and putting them into
action to get their house looking just-so, is what they
need.
Household hints can be a boon to any serious homemaker, and
you will find that the more serious the homemaker, the more
likely it will be that they have their own particular household
hints and tricks which they put to good use keeping their house
in shape.
But what are household hints? Are they about what you can do
to keep your house neat as a pin, or do they tell you what to
do in the case of accidental water seepage from your drains?
Maybe they tell you how to deal with stains and the removal
thereof, or maybe they tell you how best to decorate a room to
catch the natural light.
It doesn’t really matter what the household hints are about,
the fact of the matter is that all of these things and more can
be classified and included as "household hints". Basically
anything that will help you around the house, and which will
help you to get your house in order, can be considered as
household hints.
For instance tips on how best to unclog a drain can also be
thought of as being household hints. This is true even if
you’re using your own specialized list of handy household
hints, more so even, because the hints that you’re using are
tried and tested by you and you know that they work.
Someone could tell you that the best way to keep clothes
fresh and away from the moths would be to place mothballs in
the closet. But you know better, and you know that the
mothballs will only make the clothes smell bad.
You can instead inform this person that
you know of a better method to keep the moths away by placing
slivers of old used soap in tiny net drawstring bags and
hanging them alongside your clothes. Now, not only will the
moths stay away but your clothes will also smell nice.
Or if someone asks you on the best way to store fresh herbs
and keep them from spoiling within a few days, you can tell
them that wrapping them in a slightly damp kitchen towel and
placing them in a plastic bag in the refrigerator is the best
way to do this.
Or how about if you want to get your entire house smelling
fresh and sweet? All you need to do is to place a quart of
water on the stove and add a few sticks of cinnamon, some
orange peel, and a little grated nutmeg and let it simmer away
gently on the stove until the water has evaporated and your
house smells heavenly.
