Custom Closet Organizers For Children

Keeping ourselves is organized, but helping our children do it can be quite a chore. To make finding items in their closet much easier for them, consider a custom closet organizer. It will help them keep their room cleaner and also help them learn about organization at a very early age. To make the project fun for them, let them assist with picking out the closet organization system as well as installing it.

For the best results, consider a custom closet organization system that you can change down the road as your child grows. This also gives you the option of helping them reorganize their closet in the future. You will want to consider your child’s ability to reach the top of their closet. If they can’t, then organize it to where the most common things they need to reach are at their level.

Placing a clothing rod lower than what is standard in an average closet allows them more independence to hang up and choose their own clothes. It will also give you one less chore to do. They also can’t use the excuse that there is no place in their closet to put anything! Even if your child can reach the top of the closet, adding a second clothing rod is a great way to have more space to hang up clothing.

Adjustable shelves can be place at lower levels for children to store items easily. You can them higher them up as the child gets older. You can also resort to placing items that aren’t used often on the very top shelves where you can help the child access them when needed. Colored milk crates work great for this, and they are very inexpensive.

Adding hooks work well for hats, robes, and jackets too. To save even more space in the closet, consider hooking them on the inside of the door. A shoe rack is a necessity for any child’s closet. How many times have you had to help you child locate a shoe? You can also use a hanging shoe rack. If it is too tall for the child, hang it as low as possible. You can put the shoes that are for rare occasions in the high holders for the child. You can also cut one in half and have to shorter shoe holders. These fit well on the inside of a closet door as well.

Keeping in mind that the idea behind a custom closet organization system for your child is to make it simpler for them, not for you. Each person has their own way of organizing, so let your child decide how items will be grouped. You can give them some pointers, but your child will be more willing to keep their closet organized if they get some say in how it is going to be done. A combination of hanging space, cubbies, drawers, shelves, and shoe organizers can help you and your child tackle this feat.

Customizing the storage space in your child’s closet can turn it from a location of chaos to a well organized place to store their clothing and other personal items. Since the needs of a child are continually changing, you should consider adjustable closet organization products that can change with your child. You can find the right products to organize a closet for any age of child, from an infant to a teenager.

Closet Organization Tips

Making the decision to get your closet organized is a step in the right direction. The task can see too much in the beginning, but with some helpful tips you will get the job done. The amount of closet space isn’t what is important – how you use it is! Break the entire task down in to small, achievable steps. This will keep the project from seeming like it is too much to tackle. The first order of business is to decide to eliminate clutter from your closet forever.

Remove everything from your closet. Be honest about what you find in there. Analyze each and every item. Getting rid of things if very easy for some people, but harder for others. Why keep dealing with these items though each and every time you open up your closet? I understand some articles in your closet may have sentimental value. Store them in an air tight container in another area of your home.

If a piece of clothing hasn’t been worn in at least one year consider donating it to a worthy cause. If you have worn out shoes that you never wear get rid of them. If it doesn’t fit then get it out of your closet. If you have items that need to be sewn or have alterations done, this is the time to do it before you place those items back into the closet. Anything that you have just stuck in your closet for lack of a better place for it needs to be removed from your home or given a proper location.

Come up with a system for organizing your clothing. This can be by color, style, or season. You can also choose to separate them by where you wear them such as around the house, work, and casual. A good idea is to hang all the pieces of a particular outfit together. Keep in mind the goal is to maximize the amount of space you have available in your closet.

Make a list of what you want in your custom closet organization. Do you love shoes? Then you might need a great deal of storage for all of them. Maybe you need shelves for your sweaters or your favorite books you keep in the closet. Start planning your closet organization by measuring the length and the depth. You will need this information to start figuring out how many shelves and shoe racks you can install.

What type of look do you want to accomplish and how much money are you willing to invest in this project? Do you want the organization shelves and items to be permanent or something you can easily remove later? The answers to these questions will help you determine the type of materials you will use to complete your closet organization. You can choose from wood, wire items, baskets, canvas, plastic, and anything else you want to consider.

The key is to eliminate anything you don’t really need from your closet and then set the remaining items up in a way that works well for you. All of us have different ways of organizing so make your system unique to you. This will help you stick with returning items to their proper location in the closet. Take some time to research the various types of closet organizers and come up with a plan you will love.

Using Shelves And Baskets To Organize Your Bathroom Accessories

Do you have old baskets in the shed you are thinking about putting in the yard sale or garbage? Stop; you can redecorate the baskets. Redecorating the items is easy, which you can create an organizer for your bathroom. In addition, you can fill in wasted space giving you more room to store other bathroom items in your cabinets. +Did you put some old shelves in the yard sale? Did the items sell, or do you still have them? If you still have the items, pick a wall that you need to do something with in the bathroom and gear up that creative mind. ++Of course, you will need to re-paint the shelves before creating your organizer. You can choose any type of paint, including flat paints. Spray the shelves, let dry, and spray paint the shelves again. If the wood is damaged, chipped, etc, you may need to sand first.

Enamel ceramic, or whatever paint you may have under the cupboard will work for this. After the shelves are dry, give them a good look over and decide if they are too plain or do you want to add something more to them. Remember don’t overdue it. +When choosing your colors and shades, be sure you already have a theme so they will match what is already done, you don’t want to waste your time. If you want more color to your shelves, use another color and stamp or even draw a design on it, painting it to your desired color.

The shelves are good and dry so now mount them on your wall where you want. I like to skater them so they aren’t all in a row. A lot depends on how much room you want to use for this project. Once you have decided on the area and the order you want to mount go ahead and mount them.

Now you have created extra space and need to put something attractive on them. Remember again here you need to be creative using baskets can be fun. Baskets come in many different sizes; shapes and colors so set them on the shelves placing the sizes and shapes wherever you like. We have the baskets picked out that, we”re going to use so be creative again and decorate them. Baskets are nice to use because they are easy to clean, just wash them with warm soapy water and let dry. The moisture in the bathroom is good for them it helps keep them from drying out.

Don’t like the color of these old baskets let’s decorate them now. You can paint baskets and decorate just like you did your shelves. Go ahead the paint won’t hurt and when finished just get the clear color spray can out and spray them to set the colors in. Got the baskets painted and they are to plain; set back onto the shelves and see where and what you want to add to them next. You can stamp and put stickers on baskets too just like you did your shelves so think and be creative with them. Make your wall something for people to talk about and be proud of all the hard work you’ve done with your time.

The shelves and baskets are done now so what are you going to do with the baskets. Don’t worry you can fill the baskets with a variety of items to clear up space in your cabinets. Use one of your newly decorated baskets for all that nail care stuff you have in a bag in the cupboard.
